Eugene Tan, 97, of Keaau, died Oct. 17 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Leyte in the Philippines, he was a retired machinist at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Visitation to be held from 8-9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by wife Maria Tan of Keaau; sons Michael Tan of Keaau and Dean (Janet) Tan of Lanai; mother-in-law Merlina Galarion of Keaau; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother, sister, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law in the Philippines, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rhodora Tabasa Del Castillo

Rhodora Tabasa Del Castillo, 84, of Kapaau, died Oct. 18 at Hale Hoola in Honokaa. Born in Carmen Cebu in the Philippines, she was a certified nursing assistant. No services. Survived by daughter Gui Le Giok (Romula) Enojardo; son Gui Wilfred Del Castillo; brothers Amelio Del Castillo and Manuel Del Castillo; sisters Pilar Cantos and Maria Celia Almeria; and one grandson. William (Bill) Ku’ualoha Rosehill

William (Bill) Ku’ualoha Rosehill, 73, of Kailua-Kona died on Oct. 16. Born in Honolulu, he worked as a forestry and natural resources manager for Bishop Estate and was a Kahuna Kukulu Wa’a (Master of ancient canoe building) who built and designed canoes for 49 years. Private celebration of life held by family. Erenio “Ernie” Ortiz, 88, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 13 at home. Born in Kealakekua, he worked at Kona Coffee Mill, Kona Airport Securitas, Kona Surf Resort security/maintenance and in construction.
